Blog Interlude: I love to type

I would have never believed you in typing class as I pounded away on those monstrous IBM Selectrics but I realized this morning that I may not have the opportunity to type until late this evening and I was genuinely sad for a moment. For better or worse the keys of a small laptop have become my favorite pen, followed closely by these. It’s hard to explain why these things are true. They just have the right intangible feel that makes me feel comfortable.

But one thing these thoughts did spark is the reminder of yesterday that I need to continually find ways to develop these similar emotional connections to moments of prayer. It’s not an act of duty. It’s not an act of sacrifice and love. It’s an act of connection with the One who shapes our lives.

Parke,

Quick question. As you may or may not have noticed, I’m having some trouble with spam comments on my blog. Is there a way to keep them off? A filter or something? I thought we couldn’t get them because you need to enter the string of random characters. THe only thing I can think is that it happened shortly after an unknown individul commented with a “track-back” to my blog (a bit incomprehensible as it really only loosely related to their world cup blog).

Anyways I’m only boring you with the details. Is there a way to stop this?

Three options you can consider if the password isn’t working.
1. Under “Preferences” and then “General Options” you can look for the check box next to “Membership”. Checking this box will only allow Voxers to post after they log in. Not the best, but ok.

2. Under “Preferences” and then “Discussion” you can scroll down to the heading “Before Comment Appears” and require people to wait for you to ok their comments or to have at least one comment ok’d by you.

3. Under “Preferences” and then “Discussion” you can scroll down to “Comment Blacklist” and put in words that will exclude certain spammers. For example I had a problem with valium comments so any posts with that word don’t appear. It’s not likely any of my friends or aquaintences will use that word.
