Yeah, I’ve heard competing theories about the harm and good this can do at such a young age. It’s been said you never get quite as firm a grasp on your first language but some source I now forget.
Are you still keeping a handle on your French? I seem to remember you knew at least two languages.

The French is terribly rusty. It’d be fine if I actually used it, but there’s little call to do that in Chicago. I’m planning to study Mandarin soon though–it’s becoming clear that it will be more and more useful with what I’ve been doing musically lately.
